On July 17th we kicked off our Performance in the Park series at The Springs at Tanasbourne with festivities throughout the day topped off by a performance of music and dance at neighboring Magnolia Park.
It was a beautiful evening to enjoy Hula H?lau ‘Ohana Holo’oko’a (the school of hula where everyone is family). There were nearly twenty dancers in full costume performing a variety of styles. The dancers ranged in age from four to seventy years old. Friends, families, neighbors and community members joined us in the park.
Throughout the day, prior to the performances, The Springs at Tanasbourne residents participated in activities to get them in the mood including hand-crafting leis from fresh orchids and decorating pineapples for a friendly contest.
The pineapples were used to spice up decoration at the large Hawaiian buffet that featured a succulent roasted pig. It was festive as residents pulled out their favorite Hawaiian clothing and shared stories of memorable vacations to Hawaii. To complete the theme, Maitais and fresh juice were served on the sun deck during the festivities.
We are excited for our next Performance in the Park on July 31st when the Hillsboro Symphony Orchestra Quartet will serenade us.
